It’s time for yet another series from my attempts at photography, this time in Madrid. I’ll give my input on some of these photos, but some of them I’ll just let you judge for yourself. Enjoy.
In my mind, there is so much going on in this photo.
This little girl is between two trees and below a large window in front of the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid. The world around her is so much bigger than she is. It’s at times cold and sparse, and ultimately we are alone, but we’re not entirely alone, and there are positives. The smaller tree behind her and the larger tree in front of her show the growth she will continue to have as her life goes on. The oversized window above her shows the potential she has. It’s limitless. She’s walking toward the light post, demonstrating the increase in wisdom, knowledge, and understanding she’ll gain as she takes each step forward. There is a Light that guides us, so we don’t walk entirely in darkness.
If you’re wondering, I promise her mother was close by.
This is a photo of Gran Via. I didn’t use a filter, nor did I do anything in editing to change the color of this at all. I didn’t think it really needed it. The blue of the sky and the yellow of the light seemed enough to me.
I think the concentration of the shoe-shiner and the apathy of the client create an interesting contrast here.
These men stand on Gran Via most nights of the week. I appreciate the honesty of this photo. It’s not hard to imagine what they thought of me and my camera.
Plaza Mayor is a very photographed location in Madrid, so I tried to capture a different view of it.
This was taken shortly before dusk. The light was hitting this church in such a beautiful way.
